Lazio Looking To Tie Down High-Flying Lazzari to New Contract

Manuel Lazzari has transformed into a key player under Maurizio Sarri in the last few weeks and Lazio want to secure his future.

The 28-year-old Italian full back was one of the players most affected by the change of coach last summer, being a wing-back in Simone Inzaghi’s 3-5-2 formation but having to adapt to being a right back in Sarri’s 4-3-3 system. He struggled initially and there was even talk of a move away in January, but now things have changed.

As detailed by Corriere della Sera (via LazioNews24), Lazzari has undergone a metamorphosis over the last few weeks, learning how to manage both attacking play and defensive responsibilities. His current contract expires in 2024 but Lazio want to extend that in order to protect their player.

The former SPAL man’s contract renewal is at the top of Lazio’s priority list and it’s likely that an agreement will be reached, at least verbally, before the end of the season.
