Ruben Loftus-Cheek is Maurizio Sarri’s first choice to strengthen the Lazio midfield in the summer.
The 26-year-old Englishman was one of the first names mentioned by the Italian coach after his arrival in Rome last year. Loftus-Cheek’s current expires with Chelsea in 2024 and he’s ended up on the fringes of Thomas Tuchel’s project in West London, making a deal possible.
As reported by Corriere dello Sport (via LazioNews24), Loftus-Cheek is one of the top names suggested for the post-Sergej Milinkovic-Savic era at Lazio. Standing at 1.90 meters tall, the Englishman is tactically flexible and has a great passing range.
Under Sarri’s guidance at Chelsea, Loftus-Cheek had his best season, scoring 10 goals in 40 appearances and proving his qualities regularly in the Premier League. He would gladly be reunited with the Italian coach and his current salary of €3.5 million net per season isn’t too inaccessible, especially considering that Milinkovic-Savic currently earns €3.2 million per season.
