Lazio have presented a new contract to Patric, who seemed destined for a free transfer to Valencia in the summer.
The 28-year-old Spanish defender was incredibly close to joining Valencia in the January transfer window but was eventually convinced to finish the season with the Biancocelesti. Coach Maurizio Sarri is a big fan of Patric, believing him to be a reliable and tactically flexible option.
As reported by Radiosei (via La Lazio Siamo Noi), Lazio president Claudio Lotito and sporting director Igli Tare presented a new contract to Patric today in a bid to keep him at the club.
Lazio’s contract renewal offer is worth around €1 million net per season plus add-ons linked to appearances, whilst Valencia’s contract offer back in January was around €1.2 million net per season.
Patric has made 25 appearances across all competitions so far this season, for a total of 1827 minutes. In that time, he’s scored one goal and provided one assist, helping the side keep 10 clean sheets.
