Lazio Escape With a Point After Mystifying 1-1 Draw With Torino

Lazio were lucky to leave with a point after a frustrating 1-1 draw with Torino yesterday.

The Biancocelesti struggled to show why they’ve been praised by Maurizio Sarri in yesterday’s draw with the Granata, looking significantly more muted than in recent performances.

A Pietro Pellegri goal early in the second half looked to be enough to spoil the Roman club’s afternoon, until star striker Ciro Immobile netted a header in the dying minutes of the match to claw back a point.

Lazio looked lost in the midfield for large portions of the match as both Lucas Leiva and Luis Alberto struggled to perform their best. The Biancocelesti’s saving graces were Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, Immobile, Felipe Anderson and Mattia Zaccagni, who all put in a hard shift.

Torino looked noticeably more dangerous than the home side at the Stadio Olimpico and the stats reflect this; Ivan Juric’s side finished with an expected goals (xG) of 1.08, better than Lazio’s 0.78 xG. They took 12 shots to the Roman club’s 10 and hit the post once.
