Ciro Immobile is on the hunt for Gunnar Nordahl’s record but first he’ll lead Lazio’s line against Milan.
The 32-year-old Italian striker is having a great season with the Biancocelesti under Maurizio Sarri, scoring 30 goals in 37 games across all competitions, and he’s continuing to prove his quality in Serie A, despite some struggles with the Italian national team. Immobile has managed to maintain his eye for goal despite the massive shift in tactical system following the change in coaches.
As highlighted by La Gazzetta dello Sport (via LazioNews24), Immobile has scored 25 goals in Serie A this season, the same amount as Milan’s top three scorers Rafael Leao (9), Olivier Giroud (8) and Zlatan Ibrahimovic (8) combined.
Immobile is currently on the hunt for his fourth Capocannoniere title, putting him one behind record holder Nordahl. He sits two goals ahead of second place Dusan Vlahovic, who has slowed down a little following his move to Juventus.
The Lazio star is also desperate to drag the squad to Europe, securing their sixth consecutive qualification, but first he needs to drive the team to a win against the Rossoneri. He’s scored seven goals against them in the past and he’s hoping to add to that tally tonight.
