Inter’s confirmed qualification to the Champions League is good news for Lazio, who are still cashing in following the departure of Joaquin Correa last summer.
The 27-year-old Argentinian forward joined the Nerazzurri last summer on a €5 million loan deal with a €23.6 million obligation to buy clause attached.
Correa was incredibly keen to follow Simone Inzaghi to the Lombardy capital and would’ve likely struggled in Maurizio Sarri’s system.
As highlighted by LazioNews24, Inter have now mathematically secured their spot in next season’s Champions League, activating a bonus linked to Lazio’s sale of Correa last summer.
The Biancocelesti will now receive an extra €1 million as a result of the Champions League qualification, giving the team something to smile about despite their disappointing loss to Milan yesterday.
Things have not been easy for Correa following his move to Inter last summer; the Argentine has only played 769 minutes of Serie A action all campaign, scoring four goals in that time. His season has been hampered by injuries and poor form.
