Lazio have identified Benjamin Bourigeaud as their top option to replace the departing Sergej Milinkovic-Savic.
The 28-year-old French midfielder is having a great season in France with Stade Rennais, scoring nine goals and providing 12 assists in 34 Ligue 1 appearances this season. Lazio sporting director Igli Tare has been following the Frenchman for a while now and things could heat up incredibly soon.
As detailed by Il Messaggero (via LazioNews24), Lazio’s top option to replace Milinkovic-Savic is the 28-year-old Bourigeaud, whose contract expires with Stade Rennais in 2023. Valued at around €15 million, it’s likely that a deal wouldn’t be too hard to pull off in the summer.
The alternative to Bourigeaud is Chelsea midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek, who could leave either on loan or in an affordable deal this summer.
Lazio have a few weeks to make their decision, but it’s clear for now that Bourigeaud is the man in pole position in the race to replace Milinkovic-Savic.
