Ruben Loftus-Cheek is Maurizio Sarri’s top target to replace the departing Sergej Milinkovic-Savic.
The 26-year-old English midfielder clearly made a good impression on the Italian coach during their single season together at Chelsea and it was his most prolific campaign in the Premier League so far, scoring six goals in 24 appearances. Sarri hasn’t forgotten Loftus-Cheek and he’s been a key target since last summer.
As reported by Corriere dello Sport (via LazioNews24), the sale of Milinkovic-Savic in the summer is looking increasingly likely, meaning a top replacement will be needed. Sarri’s preferred choice in this case is Loftus-Cheek, whose contract expires with Chelsea in 2024.
Convincing the Englishman may prove difficult, however, given the trust Thomas Tuchel has placed on him this season. His wage demands may also prove problematic.
Sarri is desperate to bring him to Rome though and he’s been focused on the 26-year-old since his arrival at Lazio last year.
