The future of Thomas Strakosha continues to remain shrouded in doubt due to disagreements regarding a possible contract renewal.
The 27-year-old Albanian shot stopper’s contract expires with the Roman club at the end of June and it’s unclear whether or not he’ll remain at the club beyond the summer. Strakosha has been with Lazio since the summer of 2012 and has made 204 appearances for the club.
As detailed by Corriere dello Sport (via LazioNews24), Maurizio Sarri would prefer Lazio sign a new goalkeeper in the summer, such as Chelsea’s Kepa Arrizabalaga, but the Roman club’s management would prefer to renew Strakosha’s contract.
A lot will depend on the plans for the upcoming summer transfer window; the 63-year-old Italian coach wants a number of reinforcements to arrive and so he may have to concede regarding Strakosha in order to fund other deals.
Strakosha has made 27 appearances across all competitions so far this season, for a total of 2430 minutes. In that time, he’s kept 10 clean sheets and conceded 28 goals.
