Immobile Hoping to Overtake Batistuta In All-Time Serie A Top Scorer List

Ciro Immobile is hoping to hit yet another milestone in tonight’s match against Spezia.

The 32-year-old Italian striker has had a wonderful season under Maurizio Sarri this campaign, scoring 26 goals in 29 Serie A appearances. He’s hoping to win his fourth Capocannoniere title and he also has the all-time top scorer rankings in mind.

As highlighted by Corriere dello Sport (via LazioNews24), Immobile has scored 181 goals in Serie A so far, two behind Fiorentina legend Gabriel Batistuta. A brace against Spezia tonight would see him tie the Argentinian icon, an incredible achievement.

Immobile has netted 149 goals with Lazio, just one behind Kurt Hamrin, who netted 150 with Fiorentina. The Lazio captain sits 13th in the all-time Serie A top scorer charts and is the highest active player.

The 32-year-old Italian striker is again being asked by Maurizio Sarri to be the driving force in the team’s fight for European qualification and he looks as hungry as ever, having netted five goals in his last three Serie A outings.
