Lazio vs Sampdoria: Match Preview, Expected Lineups, Team News

Lazio head into this match against Sampdoria looking to maintain momentum following their controversial 4-3 comeback win over Spezia last week.

The Roman club fell behind three times against the Ligurian side last weekend but they managed to snatch three equalisers as the game progressed, keeping things tense but exciting. In the dying minutes of the match, defender Francesco Acerbi netted a scrappy header and secured the win for Lazio, but controversy erupted after it appeared to be clearly offside.

Sampdoria’s 1-0 derby win over Genoa could ultimately prove decisive in the fight to avoid relegation this season and things are looking good now for the Blucerchiati, who sit five points ahead of 18th place Cagliari.

The match between Lazio and Sampdoria kicks off at 20.45 local time on Saturday 7th May at the Stadio Olimpico.

Lazio vs Sampdoria: Team News

Lazio are looking healthy in the final few weeks of the season, with only Spanish winger Pedro in doubt for the match. Luiz Felipe, Adam Marusic, Patric and Ciro Immobile are all at risk of being suspended should they pick up a booking in the match.

Things are a little more tough for Sampdoria; Stefano Sensi, Sebastian Giovinco and Manolo Gabbiadini have all been ruled out of the match through injury. Albin Ekdal is only one yellow card away from picking up a yellow-card suspension.

Expected Starting Lineups

Maurizio Sarri’s greatest doubts revolve around the midfield, with Toma Basic hoping to pip Luis Alberto to the punch and Danilo Cataldi challenging Lucas Leiva’s starting status. Luiz Felipe could also start over Patric in defence.

Marco Giampaolo may also switch things around a little for the match, with Fabio Quagliarella, Mikkel Damsgaard and Nicola Murru all hoping for a starting spot.

Lazio (4-3-3): Strakosha; Lazzari, Patric, Acerbi, Marusic; Milinkovic-Savic, Leiva, Luis Alberto; Felipe Anderson, Immobile, Zaccagni.

Sampdoria (4-5-1): Audero; Bereszynski, Ferrari, Colley, Augello; Candreva, Rincon, Ekdal, Thorsby, Sabiri; Caputo.
