The Biancocelesti picked up a confident 2-0 win over Sampdoria at the Stadio Olimpico last night and the 29-year-old Spanish midfielders was one of the stars of the show, providing the assist for Patric’s opening goal and showing off a classy piece of technical skill as he scored, doubling Lazio’s advantage.
As highlighted by OptaPaolo, Luis Alberto’s 10th assist of the Serie A season means that Lazio now have two players who’ve provided double figures in assists, something which only Liverpool can better, having three who’ve achieved the feat. Sergej Milinkovic-Savic has provided 11 assists this campaign in Rome, proving himself a star.
This is a sign of Maurizio Sarri’s exciting and on-brand attacking football, showing how he allows his star midfielders to play a key role in the attacking moves. Unfortunately for Lazio fans, either of these midfielders could be sold in the summer in order to fund a total squad overhaul.
