Changpeng Zhao, CEO and founder of Binance, commented on the possibility of taking over Lazio in the future.

The cryptocurrency exchange became the Biancocelesti’s main shirt sponsor earlier this season and have launched set up fan tokens, giveaways and events for supporters to take advantage of. Zhao recently reacted to Luis Alberto’s wonder goal against Sampdoria, leading many fans to reach out and beg him to purchase the club outright.

Speaking to Rai News (via LazioNews24), Binance CEO CZ discussed the possibility of buying Lazio or another football team in the future.

We don’t usually buy football teams, we won’t know how to manage them, but we can help issue fan tokens and increase fan engagement, we could become main sponsors or investors.

We want to help enter the new world of cryptocurrencies, which I am convinced would greatly increase the money available.

Binance was launched by CZ in 2017 and it quickly became the largest cryptocurrency exchange worldwide. The Chinese-Canadian businessman is currently the 13th richest person in the world, having an estimated net worth of $77.3 billion USD.

Many Lazio fans are desperate for CZ to takeover the club from Claudio Lotito, unhappy with the Italian businessman’s refusal to invest heavily in the transfer market. Despite this, Lotito has done an incredible job balancing the Biancocelesti’s books following their collapse under Sergio Cragnotti.
