Federico Pastorello, the agent of Francesco Acerbi, has confirmed a meeting with Lazio at the end of this season.
The 34-year-old Italian centre back has had a difficult time of things following the arrival of Maurizio Sarri last summer; he initially struggled to adapt to the tactical changes and a complete relationship fracture with the fans only exacerbated things. His current deal expires in 2025 but it’s hard to imagine him seeing out the contract.
Speaking to La Repubblica (via LazioNews24), Pastorello discussed the future of Acerbi and the upcoming meeting with Lazio.
The situation has been difficult for some time now. He was a pillar, now aspects of his personal life are being touched in an unfair way, he is an exemplary professional, who takes great care of himself, his diet, to always be at the top.
The goal against Spezia is not accidental, he is strong in the head, in the body. At the end of the season we will confront with the club, working in this situation can be complicated.
The 34-year-old Acerbi, who joined Lazio in 2018 from Sassuolo, has made 34 appearances across all competitions so far this season, for a total of 2897 minutes. In that time, he’s scored four goals and provided two assists, struggling to maintain consistent defensive form.
The Italian centre back has been linked with moves to a number of Italian clubs like Milan, Inter and Juventus ahead of the summer transfer window.
