Lazio Open Talks With Shakhtar Midfielder Marcos Antonio

Marcos Antonio has been identified by Lazio as a possible replacement for Lucas Leiva and they’ve opened talks with the Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder.

The Biancocelesti are preparing for the departure of the former Liverpool man and they’ve lined up another Brazilian who could take his place: Marcos Antonio. He was having a good campaign with Shakhtar until the ongoing Russian invasion of Ukraine forced the team to stop playing earlier this year.

As reported by TuttoMercatoWeb, Marcos Antonio was continuing to impress Roberto De Zerbi on the pitch until the Russian invasion threw the country into chaos. Lazio have highlighted him as a strong option and they’ve opened talks to discuss the feasibility of a possible deal.

It would likely be a fairly low-cost deal, despite the three years remaining on his contract with Shakhtar, and he could be the perfect chance to reinvent Maurizio Sarri’s midfield in the summer.

The 21-year-old Brazilian midfielder scored three goals and provided one assist in 28 appearances across all competitions this season.
