23 years ago today, Lazio beat Mallorca 2-1 in the UEFA Cup Winners Cup Final to secure their first European trophy.

The Biancocelesti, under the guidance of Sven-GΓΆran Eriksson, had reached the final after securing wins over Lausanne-Sport, Partizan, Panionios and Lokomotiv Moscow.

In the final itself, hosted at Villa Park in England, Christian Vieri opened the scoring after seven minutes to give Lazio a short-lived lead, as Dani pulled back an equaliser after only four minutes.
