Lazio vs Hellas Verona: Match Preview, Expected Lineups, Team News

A Lazio side fighting for fifth host Igor Tudor’s Hellas Verona, who have little to play for, in the final Serie A match day of the season.

The Biancocelesti currently sit three points ahead of intercity rivals Roma heading into the final match-day and even a draw would be enough to secure a fifth place finish, something that Maurizio Sarri and his players could smile about after a difficult transitional season.

Hellas Verona, in comparison, have little to play for as they approach the end of the campaign; they sit ninth in the table with 52 points, seven points behind eighth place Atalanta. They’ve had a strong season under Tudor and have shown significant signs of potential on a number of occasions.

The match between Lazio and Hellas Verona will kick off at 20.45 local time on Saturday 21st May at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome.

Lazio vs Hellas Verona: Team News

Maurizio Sarri will have to manage two absences as he approaches this match; Patric is unavailable due to a yellow-card suspension and Ciro Immobile is highly likely to miss the match due to an ankle sprain.

Should the Lazio star take to the pitch, it would only be a cameo appearance in the dying minutes of the game.

Tudor will have to do without three players for tomorrow’s match, with Koray Gunter, Antonin Barak and Ivor Pandur all unavailable. The former is suspended whilst the latter two are out with injury.

Expected Starting Lineups

Sarri’s biggest doubts resolve around his midfield; Toma Basic is hoping to get the nod over Luis Alberto and there’s also a chance that Danilo Cataldi could start ahead of Lucas Leiva.

Hellas Verona are unlikely to launch any surprises for the final game of the season, although Panagiotis Retsos could start over Bosko Sutalo.

Lazio (4-3-3): Strakosha; Lazzari, Hysaj, Acerbi, Marusic; Milinkovic-Savic, Lucas Leiva, Basic; Pedro, Felipe Anderson, Zaccagni

Hellas Verona (3-4-2-1): Montipò; Sutalo, Casale, Ceccherini; Faraoni, Tameze, Ilic, Lazovic; Lasagna, Caprari; Simeone
