Luka Romero on Growth at Lazio & Support From Teammates

Luka Romero was positive when discussing his growth since joining Lazio, his relationship with Maurizio Sarri and the support received from his teammates.

The 17-year-old Argentinian winger joined the Biancocelesti on a free transfer last summer from RCD Mallorca, only costing a €200,000 training premium. He is one of the most exciting young talents in Europe and he impressed a number of Argentina’s senior team during a recent international break.

Speaking to Lazio’s media outlets (via LazioNews24), Luka Romero first discussed his development this season in the Italian capital.

I’ve grown as a player and as a person, learning many things, such as adapting to all the dynamics that a professional club like Lazio requires, a team that fights every season to reach great goals.

In addition to training to try and win every game, I have above all had the opportunity to work at a high level with great professionals. The call up to the national team was then the realisation of another dream.

The Lazio prospect commented on his relationship with coach Sarri.

I would say the relationship is what there is between any footballer and coach. I have great respect and admiration because he has a lot of experience. I’m happy, he’s teaching me a lot by giving me lots of advice to help me improve.

He touched on which players have impressed him the most and the general support received from his teammates.

More than an individual player, it’s the unity of the squad that has impressed me most. We are all united, I really appreciate how they helped me fit in from day one and how they support me at all times.

I couldn’t name one person in particular because they all give me advice. Being the youngest in the squad I always try to listen to them to learn as much as I can.

Finally, Luka Romero gave his thoughts on Serie A as a whole.

It’s a high level, I expected it. In fact I’ve always had high expectations for this league, as there are so many strong teams. It’s no coincidence that every player dreams of playing in Italy.

The 17-year-old Luka Romero, who is contracted to Lazio until 2023, has made eight first team appearances for the Roman club this season, being given a handful of minutes as he continues to develop and generate the necessary physicality for Serie A.
