Luiz Felipe Waves Goodbye to Lazio: ‘I Grew up & Became a Man Here’

Luiz Felipe wrote a heartfelt goodbye to Lazio following his final appearance for the club.

The 25-year-old Brazilian centre back is leaving the Biancocelesti on a free transfer next month, ending a six-year association with the Roman side. Luiz Felipe grew into a strong and promising defender under Simone Inzaghi, quickly becoming a fan favourite for his passion and hard work.

Writing on his Instagram page after the 3-3 draw with Hellas Verona, Luiz Felipe thanked Lazio and the fans, wishing them the best.

Yesterday was my last game at the Olimpico in the Lazio shirt. There are many things to say, but there will be time. Today I just want to thank all my teammates, all the fans and all the people who work in this club that means HOME to me.

Five years are a lot, here I grew up, became a man, a father and a Serie A footballer. Here I have won many titles and worn the national team shirt. I am grateful and I will always be linked to the Biancocelesti colours. Forza Lazio!

The 25-year-old Luiz Felipe is reportedly close to joining Spanish side Real Betis on a free transfer, giving him the chance to experience an entirely new league and style of football.

The Brazilian centre back made 143 appearances across all competitions for Lazio in his six years in Rome, scoring two goals and providing five assists. He won a Coppa Italia and two Supercoppa Italiana with the club.
