Marcos Antonio Ready for Medicals Ahead of Lazio Transfer

Marcos Antonio is expected to arrive in Rome later this week to undergo the usual medical tests ahead of his move to Lazio.

The 21-year-old Brazilian midfielder will be the Biancocelesti’s first transfer of the summer window, with the Roman club quickly swooping in to secure his signature ahead of their European rivals. Marcos Antonio had been impressing for Shakhtar Donetsk this season but the Russian invasion of Ukraine threw Ukrainian football into chaos.

As reported by Corriere dello Sport (via LazioNews24), Marcos Antonio is set to arrive in Rome this week in order to carry out his medicals at the Paideia clinic, ahead of his move to Lazio. The 21-year-old will cost the Roman club €9 million, a bargain considering his potential and quality.

The Brazilian midfielder was a core part of Roberto De Zerbi’s Shakhtar squad and he’ll be an important addition to Maurizio Sarri’s midfield, able to play a number of roles in the centre of the pitch.

Apollo’s Thoughts

If Lazio actually manage to painlessly pull off this Marcos Antonio deal then I’ll be firmly impressed. From the little I’ve seen of the 21-year-old, he seems like he’d be a great fit for Sarri’s squad and the fee makes a deal a no-brainer.
