Lazio President Lotito: ‘Changes Will Make the Team More Competitive’

Lazio president Claudio Lotito discussed the upcoming squad overhaul and his reaction to Roma’s Europa Conference League victory.

The Biancocelesti are preparing for an important summer transfer window, where coach Maurizio Sarri will be given a number of reinforcements in order to make the team more competitive in the fight for a top four finish. Sarri’s recent contract renewal suggests that the plans are positive and sees things moving in the right direction.

Speaking on the sidelines of the Valentina Vezzali’s presentation of her book ‘The Queen of Foil’ (via La Lazio Siamo Noi), Lotito first discussed the team’s plans for the future.

More than a revolution I would speak of renewal, a refinement of a work undertaken and that we will bring to completion.

The changes will be the right and necessary ones to make the team even more competitive and to be able to fight to reach the set goals.

The Lazio president then gave his thoughts on Roma’s Conference League victory and if that gives him motivation.

I always look at what happens in my house and not the house of others. My motivations come from the fact that, after Juventus, Lazio has won the most, with three Coppa Italia and three Italian Super Cups. And then we have always finished in the top positions.

As Lazio we have in our records a history of very important victories and trophies. Having said that, every time we win it is always a pleasure. When there are international competitions, I am an Italian and I make sure that national interests prevail.

Lazio are now working on setting up their summer transfer window, with a number of areas clearly in need of reinforcement, such as the left back role or the midfield. Fans are hopeful of an exciting window following the insufficient work carried out in January.
