How Lazio Plan to Convince Romagnoli of a Free Transfer to Rome

Lazio are ready for a new meeting with Alessio Romagnoli and his entourage as they work to close out a deal.

The Biancocelesti are ready to raise their contract offer to the 27-year-old Italian centre back in order to convince him of the move to the Italian capital. Their current offer stands at €2.5 million net per season, significantly less than the €3.2 million net per season salary wanted by Romagnoli.

As reported by La Lazio Siamo Noi, Lazio are set to meet with Enzo Raiola, the agent of Romagnoli, next week in order to try and close out a deal. They plan to raise their offer to €2.8 million net per season plus add-ons, which are supposedly both substantial and easy to achieve.

Things could finally be agreed on the basis of €3 million plus add-ons, but this won’t be clear until after the meeting next week.

Lazio are incredibly keen to sign Romagnoli this summer and the player himself is keen to join the club, so both parties are now working to try and find the right agreement.

Apollo’s Thoughts

Personally I see this as Lazio’s most exciting realistic transfer of the summer. Romagnoli has been known to be a fan of the club for years now and his arrival is exactly what’s needed to galvanise the fans ahead of Maurizio Sarri’s second season in Rome. He seems like the perfect replacement for Luiz Felipe and possibly Francesco Acerbi, adding an experienced defender to Sarri’s backline.

The Milan captain’s requests seem relatively fair considering his quality and I have no doubts that he’d impress the Biancocelesti faithful, so hopefully next week’s meeting proves fruitful. Knowing Lazio, nothing is easy and unfortunately I could see this deal fizzling out, so anxiety is high as the two parties work to try and reach an agreement.
