Sevilla Open Exploratory Talks With Lazio for Luis Alberto

Sevilla have requested information from Lazio about Luis Alberto as they debate a possible summer move for the Spaniard.

The 29-year-old Spanish midfielder had an interesting season under Maurizio Sarri in Rome, hitting many highs but also many lows as he wrestled with the new tactical system. Despite some rocky points, Luis Alberto finished the Serie A season with five goals and 11 assists, a good haul.

As reported by La Lazio Siamo Noi, Sevilla are interested in picking up Luis Alberto this summer and they’ve opened talks with Lazio, keen to explore the idea of a transfer. They understand that president Claudio Lotito will want around €30-35 million for the 29-year-old, a fairly high fee.

Monchi is a big fan of the Spanish midfielder and so he’s hoping to try and find a compromise, possibly taking advantage of the fact that the player is keen to return home.

Lazio are open to a possible sale, ready to revitalise the squad to provide Sarri with a more competitive team. Updates are expected over the coming weeks.

Apollo’s Thoughts

Every year Sevilla seem interested in Luis Alberto and he seems interested in a return home, but this summer could finally be the one that seems him go back to the Iberian peninsula. It’s obvious that Lazio need to sell a top player this summer in order to generate the funds necessary to carry out the squad overhaul, and many fans would likely pick Luis Alberto as that candidate over Sergej Milinkovic-Savic.

Despite his quality on the pitch, his confusing behaviour off it causes friction in the Lazio environment, so it’s not hard to imagine the Roman club entering serious talks with Sevilla in the coming weeks. Whether or not they’ll manage to shore up the right price is different story, so only time will tell.
