Lazio are close to reaching an agreement with Atalanta for talented goalkeeper Marco Carnesecchi.
The Biancocelesti are looking for a new number one to replace Thomas Strakosha, who is leaving on a free transfer next month, when he is likely to join newly promoted Premier League side Fulham. With Pepe Reina deciding to stay for one more year, only a new starting shot stopper is needed.
As reported by TuttoAtalanta, Lazio are on the brink of agreeing a €15 million deal with Atalanta for Carnesecchi, who is apparently keen to join Maurizio Sarri’s side. He’ll be given a starting spot in the squad and seems like a good fit after a strong year on loan with Cremonese.
This season, the 21-year-old Italian shot stopper made 36 Serie B appearances, conceding 38 goals and helping the side keep nine clean sheets. He was one of the stars of the show at Cremonese and seems ready for the jump to a top club.
Apollo’s Thoughts
This would be a wonderful deal to get across the line early into the transfer window. Everyone knows that Lazio need a new number one and Carnesecchi has been the top choice for a while now, with other options like Empoli’s Guglielmo Vicario falling by the wayside.
