Lazio President Lotito: ‘We Are Working for the Fans, Sarri Has Signed’

Lazio president Claudio Lotito has underlined the seriousness of the club’s plans ahead of this summer’s transfer window.

The Biancocelesti are preparing for a serious squad overhaul over the coming months, with coach Maurizio Sarri requesting around six to eight new players, wanting to make his team more competitive as they fight for a top four finish. Considering that he’s put pen to paper on a new deal, the chances of a good transfer window are looking high.

Speaking to Corriere dello Sport (via LazioNews24), Lotito first spoke about the work being carried out at Lazio and he confirmed that Sarri has signed a contract renewal.

We are working for the fans. We are at the work in progress stage. Sarri has signed. Now we have to think about strengthening the team.

The Lazio president touched on the team’s goals for the 2022-23 Serie A season.

We want to do better than we did this year. We finished six points behind fourth place and we lost games against teams that were easy to beat.

Finally, Lotito made a comment about the Biancocelesti faithful and what he’d ask of them.

I ask for tranquillity. Things should be told as they are and without destabilising anything.

Lazio’s incredibly disappointing January transfer window was one of the reasons why Sarri was reportedly hesitant to put pen to paper on a new deal, so the fact that he’s signed a new deal lasting until 2025 is a good sign ahead of the rapidly approaching transfer window.
