Hellas Verona have recommended Giovanni Simeone to Lazio ahead of the upcoming summer transfer window.
Gialloblu president Maurizio Setti spoke about the possibility of carrying out some deals with the Biancocelesti in an interview yesterday, and it’s clear that the strong relationship between the two clubs will come into play this summer as Lazio work to revitalise their squad. One player who is a topic of discussion is Nicolo Casale, but now Simeone has come into the mix as well.
As reported by La Lazio Siamo Noi, Setti has recommended Simeone to Lazio for a summer transfer, with the Roman club clearly needing to sign a new backup striker. The 26-year-old Argentinian is currently on loan at Hellas Verona and they can sign him from Cagliari for around €10.5 million.
The Gialloblu are therefore considering buying Simeone and immediately selling him onwards for around €15 million, possibly even on a loan deal with an obligation to buy clause attached.
Lazio are still unsure how to resolve the backup striker situation, with the club pushing for Jovane Cabral’s confirmation but Maurizio Sarri preferring a different type of player like Dries Mertens.
For his part, Simeone would be happy with the move to Lazio, keen to join the club that his father found success at.
