Lazio are looking to overtake Fiorentina in the race to sign Arsenal midfielder Lucas Torreira.
The 26-year-old Uruguayan midfielder had a good season on loan with the Viola, but he’s set to return to North London at the end of this month after the Florence side failed to find an agreement with the Gunners regarding a price.
As reported by TuttoMercatoWeb, Lazio are keenly interested in Torreira and they’re currently in contact with the player’s entourage, hoping to beat Fiorentina to the punch. Arsenal want around €15 million, a fairly accessible price for a Biancocelesti side in transition.
Fiorentina have not fully given up hope yet and are keeping a close eye on the situation, but at the moment Lazio have the chance to secure his signature ahead of their Tuscan opponents.
The 26-year-old Torreira made 35 appearance across all competitions this season for Fiorentina, for a total of 2549 minutes. In that time, he scored five goals and provided two assists.
