How Lazio Plan to Sign Atalanta Talent Carnesecchi

Marco Carnesecchi is now only a step away from signing for Lazio, ready to become the club’s first-choice goalkeeper.

The Biancocelesti have been looking for an adequate replacement for Thomas Strakosha for a number of months now and quickly identified the 21-year-old Carnesecchi as a top option following his strong season on loan with Cremonese, where he played a key role in their promotion push.

As reported by La Repubblica (via LazioNews24), Lazio are now working to sign Carnesecchi on a one-year loan deal with a €12 million obligation to buy clause attached.

This formula would suit both parties as it would guarantee Atalanta a fair sum for a talented youngster, whilst also making the deal accessible for the Biancocelesti.

The 21-year-old Italian shot stopper will be an exciting addition to the Lazio squad and it’ll be interesting to see how well he adapts to Maurizio Sarri’s tactical system. Second choice goalkeeper Pepe Reina can also help in this regard, being an experienced mentor.
