Lazio have agreed personal terms with Ivan Ilic and now need to iron out a deal with Hellas Verona.
The Biancocelesti and the Gialloblu have a strong relationship, seen with the Mattia Zaccagni deal last summer, and they’ve already been in talks this season regarding Nicolo Casale. During these talks, the idea of Ivan Ilic also came up.
As reported by Corriere dello Sport (via LazioNews24), Lazio have reached a verbal agreement with Ilic on the basis of a four-year contract worth around €1.5 million net per season plus add-ons.
The deal still remains complicated, however, as Hellas Verona want €18 million for the 21-year-old Serbian midfielder. The Biancocelesti are hoping to sign the former Manchester City man on a loan deal with an obligation to buy clause attached, set at around €13-14 million.
Talks between the two clubs are constant and one idea has been to include Raul Moro in exchange in order to lower the costs of a deal. Borussia Dortmund is a big fan of Ilic, so Lazio cannot afford to act slowly.
Apollo’s Thoughts
This seems to be an incredibly smart deal by Lazio. Ilic has heaps of potential and he’s developed well at Hellas Verona across the course of this season, showing no signs of slowing down. Let’s hope Lazio don’t let Ilic slip through their fingers now.
