Lazio Continuing to Push for Carnesecchi Despite Injury

Lazio are not giving up on Marco Carnesecchi after tests revealed that his recent injury is not as serious as first feared.

The Biancocelesti have been keeping a close eye on the 21-year-old Italian goalkeeper for a number of months now and he’s reportedly their first choice option to replace Thomas Strakosha, who is leaving on a free transfer.

Carnesecchi suffered a shoulder injury whilst training with the Italian Under-21 team earlier this week and there were fears that the problem would require surgery to resolve, but now those concerns have been quelled.

As reported by Gianluca Di Marzio, Carnesecchi will not have to undergo surgery to recover from his shoulder injury, allowing Lazio to restart negotiations with Atalanta regarding a possible deal.

The talks are expected to get into full swing next week and Lazio will have to find an agreement with Atalanta, who want €15 million but are open to a loan deal with an obligation to buy clause attached.

The Roman club are hoping to close out a deal on the basis of €12-13 million and an agreement seems fairly close now. The 21-year-old Italian shot stopper seems like he’ll be a good fit for Maurizio Sarri’s system in Rome.
