Lazio are incredibly keen to pick up Giovanni Simeone this summer but they’ll have to fight off competition from Arsenal and Juventus.
The 26-year-old Argentinian forward had a great season on loan with Hellas Verona, netting 17 goals and providing six assists in 36 Serie A appearances this season. The Gialloblu are now preparing to activate the €10 million buy option attached to his loan move from Cagliari, and after that they’ll put him immediately back on the market.
As reported by Corriere della Sera (via LazioNews24), Lazio have been looking for the right alternative to Ciro Immobile for a while now and have identified Simeone as their top option. Unfortunately for them, the Argentinian forward has also attracted the attention of both Arsenal and Juventus.
TuttoMercatoWeb detailed how the Bianconeri have already requested information from Hellas Verona about the player and Arsenal have now started to make a move for Simeone as well, forcing Lazio to act fast.
The Gialloblu are likely to accept around €20 million for Simeone, a fee that may be a little out of reach for the Roman club, an issue not faced by their competition.
Apollo’s Thoughts
Honestly, I think Lazio should steer clear of this deal. Yes, Simeone had a great season with Hellas Verona, but let’s not forget his other poor years in Serie A. Last campaign, six goals in 33 games. In the 2019-20 season he netted 12 in 37, and the year prior to that, six in 36. For the price, the Roman club are better looking elsewhere.
I also think they should stay away. Hes yet to prove consistency. They should look at Caprari or Caputo which I think would be the most cost effective.
Sure..
Bravo ciccio..
