Nicolo Casale is now only a step away from joining Lazio after a verbal agreement was reached with Hellas Verona.

The Biancocelesti have been fans of the 24-year-old Italian centre back for months now, believing him to be the perfect fit for Maurizio Sarri’s progressive 4-3-3 system in Rome. Lazio wanted to sign Casale in the January transfer window but agreed to return at the end of this season.

As reported by Il Tempo (via LazioNews24), there is now a verbal agreement between Lazio president Claudio Lotito and his Hellas Verona counterpart Maurizio Setti regarding Casale. The figures have been agreed and the deal will be finalised later this month, when the liquidity index issue is resolved.

The 24-year-old Casale, who is a product of the Gialloblu’s youth system, made 36 league appearances this season, for a total of 2591 minutes. In that time, he provided two assists and impressed with his work in the build-up phase.
