Acerbi at the Centre of Transfer Derby Between Milan & Inter

Francesco Acerbi is nearing a transfer away from Lazio as both Milan and Inter consider a possible move this summer.

The 34-year-old Italian centre-back seems destined to depart in this transfer window following an incredibly difficult season in Rome, where he struggled to adapt to Maurizio Sarri’s system and suffered a complete relationship breakdown with the fans, failing to win back their support.

As reported by Il Tempo and La Gazzetta dello Sport (via LazioNews24), a transfer market derby is expected to kick off in a few weeks between Milan and Inter, with both clubs keeping a close eye on Acerbi.

With Alessio Romagnoli on his way to Lazio, Stefano Pioli has asked the Rossoneri to sign an experienced centre back and the 34-year-old Italian could be picked up to complete the package. The club have been following his situation for a while now and could sign him in a fairly low-cost deal.

Inter are also serious contenders for Acerbi. Should Milan Skriniar transfer to Paris Saint-Germain, Simone Inzaghi may ask the club to make a move for the Lazio veteran, remembering him fondly from their time together in Rome.

Concrete updates are expected over the coming weeks as Acerbi seems all but certain to find a home this summer.
