Jonathan Barnett, agent of Lazio target Ruben Loftus-Cheek, dampened fans’ hopes of seeing the Chelsea man move to Rome.
The Biancocelesti have been fans of the 26-year-old English midfielder for a while now and consider him the top option to strengthen the squad should Sergej Milinkovic-Savic be sold this summer.
Maurizio Sarri in particular remembers Loftus-Cheek well from their time together at Chelsea and is keen to be reunited in Rome.
Speaking to Il Messaggero (via LazioNews24), Barnett confirmed that no talks have been held yet between Lazio and Chelsea regarding Loftus-Cheek.
Lazio have not spoken with Chelsea that I know of, although Sarri is a fan of him and he likes Serie A. Let’s see what will happen.
The 26-year-old Loftus-Cheek, who is contracted to Chelsea until 2024, made 40 appearances across all competitions this season for the Blues, for a total of 2160 minutes. In that time, he scored one goal and provided five assists, growing into Thomas Tuchel’s tactics in West London.
No concrete offers have arrived yet for Milinkovic-Savic, so a move for the Englishman is unlikely for the time being.
