Arsenal midfielder Lucas Torreira has recently been offered to Lazio and the club are now debating a possible move this summer.
The 26-year-old Uruguayan midfielder had a good season on loan with Fiorentina, scoring five goals and providing two assists, but he did not make a permanent move there after the Viola looked for a discount on the agreed-upon buy option fee. Torreira has now returned to Arsenal but will not be included in coach Mikel Arteta’s plans.
As detailed by Il Messaggero (via LazioNews24), Lazio are thinking about making a move for Torreira this summer as Maurizio Sarri is a big fan of the 26-year-old. The Arsenal midfielder could be brought in to play as a regista, moving inbound Marcos Antonio to a different role in the midfield three.
The Biancocelesti’s only concern about the Uruguayan midfielder is his lack of physicality, but a move could still be made later this summer depending on what happens to Luis Alberto and Sergej Milinkovic-Savic.
Both Lazio midfielders have been linked with moves away from the club this summer and the Roman club may swoop in for Torreira should either of them leave. For now though, the 26-year-old is not a priority in the Italian capital.
