Lazio Linked With a Move for Real Madrid Prospect Mario Gila

Lazio are keeping tabs on Real Madrid talent Mario Gila as they look for a low-cost defensive reinforcement.

The Biancocelesti are looking for another centre back alongside key target Alessio Romagnoli and a number of players are currently being considered, like Hellas Verona’s Nicolo Casale and another Los Blancos prospect Victor Chust.

As reported by La Repubblica (via LazioNews24), Lazio sporting director Igli Tare is keeping a close eye on the 21-year-old Mario Gila, who is contracted to Real Madrid until 2024.

The Spanish centre back played for Real Madrid Castilla this season, making 32 appearances in the third tier of football in Spain. In that time, he scored two goals, provided one assist and impressed with his consistent performances. The 21-year-old’s development saw him earn two La Liga appearances with the first team at the tail end of the season.

Los Blancos don’t want to lose Mario Gila and so they’re more open to a loan deal, possibly with a buy option attached that includes a buy-back clause.

Updates are expected a little later in the summer as Lazio are still working to close out the deal for their top target Romagnoli. An agreement seems close on this front, but nothing has been signed.
