The 34-year-old Italian centre back reportedly handed in a transfer request at the end of the season just gone, keen for a breath of fresh air following an incredibly difficult season in Rome. Acerbi fell out with the fans after a misguided goal celebration and despite his apology, he was not forgiven.
As reported by La Repubblica (via LazioNews24), Acerbi is unconvinced about a move to Inter or Milan as he knows that he wouldn’t be guaranteed a starting spot in the squad. The Lazio defender is now reflecting on the idea of playing as a rotation option.
In the meantime, no concrete offer has arrived yet from either the Nerazzurri nor the Rossoneri as the Biancocelesti’s €4 million request has dampened their enthusiasm. The fact that his contract expires in 2025 and sees him earn €2.5m net per season also complicates things a little.
