Denis Vavro is finally on the verge of joining FC Copenhagen as the Danish side prepare to close out a deal with Lazio.
The 26-year-old Slovakian centre back returned to Denmark in the January transfer window after an incredibly difficult few years in Rome with the Biancocelesti. Things didn’t go to plan in Italy for Vavro, who failed to impress both Simone Inzaghi and Maurizio Sarri, so a return to Copenhagen made sense for all parties.
As reported by Il Messaggero (via LazioNews24), Copenhagen are ready to pay around €4.5 million to sign Vavro from Lazio permanently, closing a disappointing chapter for both player and club. This fee would be enough to see the Roman club avoid a capital loss.
Vavro made 21 appearances for Lazio across all competitions following his arrival back in July 2019. He cost the Biancocelesti around €10.5 million but he never lived up to that fee, quickly being sidelined in the Italian capital.
