Lazio are in talks with Empoli to try and agree a deal for goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario, who seems to have become the primary target.
The Biancocelesti have been left empty-handed as June begins, with both Thomas Strakosha and Pepe Reina leaving the club on free transfers. Maurizio Sarri essentially has no goalkeepers at his disposal and Atalanta are keeping strong to their €18 million valuation of Marco Carnesecchi, forcing Lazio to act fast.
As reported by Nicolo Schira, Lazio have offered Empoli €12 million for Vicario, who has already agreed to a five-year deal in Rome. Cagliari will receive 10% of his future resale due to his move from Sardinia to Tuscany.
Vicario seems to have overtaken Carnesecchi in Lazio’s plans and now the Roman club are hoping to fully agree to a deal soon. The idea is to have the 25-year-old Italian shot-stopper fully ready in time for the pre-season training camp in Auronzo di Cadore.
