Lazio are currently without any first team goalkeepers and they’re keen to pick up both Guglielmo Vicario and Ivan Provedel to resolve this.
The Biancocelesti were caught unawares yesterday when goalkeeper Pepe Reina decided to terminate his contract and leave a year early. With Thomas Strakosha’s deal also expiring yesterday, Lazio found themselves without any first team shot stoppers only days before the pre-season training camp.
As reported by Alfredo Pedulla, Lazio have been in close contact with Empoli in recent days and they’re working to sign Vicario in a deal worth around €13-14 million plus add-ons. Things have almost been agreed and the 25-year-old Italian will sign a five-year deal in Rome.
The Biancocelesti also want a new backup shot stopper, not keen to promote a youth talent to the role, and one idea that’s proving exciting is the 28-year-old Provedel, who had a great campaign with Spezia last season, where he consistently proved his qualities.
