Alessio Romagnoli wants to join Lazio and talks restarted yesterday, with president Claudio Lotito hoping to close things out within 48 hours.
The Biancocelesti president promised coach Maurizio Sarri a goalkeeper and at least one defender by Tuesday, the day the team will leave for the pre-season training camp in Auronzo di Cadore. The fans are pushing for Romagnoli in particular and things could finally be pushed across the line over the next few days.
As reported by Corriere dello Sport (via LazioNews24), talks between Lazio and Romagnoli are constant now and both parties are keen to reach an agreement within the next few days. Lotito is not budging from his salary offer of €2.8 million net per season plus add-ons, which is still around €500,000 below the Italian defender’s request.
Lotito feels that he’s done as much as possible by offering Romagnoli a five-year contract with an option for a sixth, so now the ball has passed to the player, who must decide whether to lower his requests or not. He also has an offer from Fulham, a four-year deal worth €4 million net per season.
