Maurizio Sarri has asked Lazio to pick up Fiorentina’s Pietro Terracciano to be the new backup goalkeeper.
The Biancocelesti were caught empty-handed when Pepe Reina decided to terminate his contract with the club a year earlier, leaving them with no first-team shot-stoppers. The club have been linked with a move for Genoa veteran Salvatore Sirigu but Sarri is not convinced about this idea.
As reported by Il Messaggero (via TuttoMercatoWeb), Sarri has suggested to Lazio either Spezia’s Ivan Provedel or Fiorentina’s Pietro Terracciano to be the new backup shot stopper. A deal is now close to being fully reached for Empoli’s Guglielmo Vicario, who will be the first choice option.
Sporting director Igli Tare has other ideas, reportedly preferring either RCD Mallorca’s Sergio Rico or Granda’s Luis Maximiano.
Updates are expected soon, as Sarri was hoping to have a mostly complete squad for the upcoming pre-season training camp in Auronzo di Cadore, which will kick off next week.
