Kounde May Be Key for Sevilla in Their Quest for Luis Alberto

Jules Koundé could end up playing a key role in Sevilla’s work to sign Lazio star Luis Alberto this summer.

The Spanish side are incredibly keen to pick up the 29-year-old midfielder this summer, who is known to be keen to return to the Iberian peninsula, and they’ve already sent in an offer to Lazio, hoping that €13 million plus Oliver Torres would be enough to convince the Roman club.

As reported by Il Tempo (via LazioNews24), Lazio are not convinced about this offer and they want at least €20 million in cash, remembering that 30% will need to be paid to Liverpool. The key for Sevilla could therefore be the 23-year-old Koundé.

The defender is wanted by some of the top clubs around Europe like Chelsea and Barcelona, and selling him for around €60 million would give them the funds needed to bring Luis Alberto back to Spain.

Contracted to Lazio until 2025, Luis Alberto scored five goals and provided 11 assists in 34 Serie A appearances last season under Maurizio Sarri. His performances were a little inconsistent and many would prefer to see the Spaniard leave over his midfield partner Sergej Milinkovic-Savic.

Updates are expected in the coming weeks as it’s clear Sevilla aren’t willing to give up just yet.
