Muriqi Transfer to Club Brugge Collapses After Medicals

Vedat Muriqi will not complete a transfer to Club Brugge after possibly failing his medicals in Belgium.

The 28-year-old Kosovan forward seemed set to join the Belgian side on a definitive deal this summer and he flew over to take his medicals earlier this week. Club Brugge were willing to pay Lazio around €11 million for Muriqi, but things have now changed.

As highlighted by journalist Arlind Sadiku, Muriqi’s move to Club Brugge is now off following his medicals, meaning he’ll now return to the Lazio environment.

Rumours from Belgium suggest that he failed these medicals, but conflicting reports imply that it was Club Brugge’s decision to try and change the formula of the transfer to a loan deal with a buy option attached, something Lazio didn’t appreciate.

It’s possible that the truth lies somewhere in the middle; some concerns may have been raised during Muriqi’s medicals, and whilst these issues may not have fully caused a deal to collapse, they may have pushed Club Brugge to ask for a change of formula.
