Strakosha on Verge of Free Transfer to Manchester United

Former Lazio goalkeeper Thomas Strakosha is reportedly closing in on a free transfer to Manchester United.

The 27-year-old Albanian shot stopper is currently a free agent after his contract expired with the Biancocelesti last week. Strakosha did not want to renew his deal after a tough final two years in Rome, where he had to fight with Pepe Reina for a starting spot in Rome. He was linked with a move to Fulham but they’ve decided to focus on Bernd Leno instead.

As reported by Talksport, Manchester United are now close to finalising a deal for Strakosha, who would arrive on a free transfer. He’ll likely play backup to current number one David de Gea, but he’ll work hard to give new coach Erik ten Hag a tough decision to make.

During his 10 years attached to Lazio, Strakosha made 208 first team appearances across all competitions, being a part of the team that won two Coppa Italia and two Supercoppa Italiana titles. He conceded 247 goals for the Biancocelesti and kept 62 clean sheets.
