Acerbi Fate With Lazio Sealed After Boos at Training Camp

Francesco Acerbi was subjected to various insulting chants and boos at the Lazio pre-season training camp in Auronzo di Cadore, all but confirming a departure this summer.

The 34-year-old Italian defender arrived at the retreat a little later than some of his teammates following his extra commitments with the Italian national team, but he did not receive a warm welcome from the travelling Biancocelesti faithful.

As detailed by La Lazio Siamo Noi, Acerbi arrived in Auronzo this morning and was the target of boos and various insulting chants from the Lazio ultras. Chants such as “piece of sh*t” and “Acerbi go away” were repeated several times whilst he was carrying out his training exercises on the pitch.

The 34-year-old Italian ironically applauded the chants at one point and did the OK gesture in response. Acerbi reportedly handed in a transfer request at the end of the season but no concrete offers have arrived yet due to the Biancocelesti’s desire to secure around €4-5m for his signature.

Monza and Juventus are both interested in making a move for Acerbi this summer but Lazio may be forced to significantly lower his price tag in order to facilitate a move.
