Torino & Monza Emerge for Estranged Lazio Defender Acerbi

Monza and Torino are both keen to sign unneeded Lazio defender Francesco Acerbi this summer.

The 34-year-old Italian defender has not been made a key part in Maurizio Sarri’s plans for the upcoming season as life in Rome has been incredibly difficult lately for the player, who completely fell out with the fans last season.

Boos and insulting chants at the pre-season training camp confirmed that this bitter relationship persists, so a departure soon still seems likely.

As reported by La Stampa (via LazioNews24), Monza and Milan have both registered their interest in Acerbi recently and now Torino have emerged as well, looking for a replacement for the departing Gleison Bremer.

Acerbi’s €4m price tag isn’t a problem for the Granata, but his €2.5m net per season salary is slightly higher than their wage structure allows. He would still be a low-cost reinforcement, however, so Torino are considering a move once Bremer is sold.
