Acerbi Agrees to Join Napoli as Koulibaly Replacement

Napoli are interested in picking up Francesco Acerbi to replace Kalidou Koulibaly and the Lazio defender has already agreed to the move.

The 34-year-old Italian centre back asked to be transfer listed at the end of last season following a difficult campaign in Rome, where he struggled to adapt to Maurizio Sarri’s systems before falling out completely with the fans.

Boos and insulting chants at the pre-season training camp recently confirmed that the tension between Acerbi and fans is still present.

As reported by Gianluca Di Marzio, Napoli are preparing to say goodbye to Koulibaly, who is likely to join Chelsea for €40 million plus add-ons, and Luciano Spalletti has suggested that Acerbi could be the right replacement.

The Italian veteran has already agreed to move to the Partenopei and now Napoli are expected to open negotiations with Lazio this week in order to try and reach a deal. The Roman club want around €5 million for the former Sassuolo man.
