Adam Marusic spoke highly of the new signings and looked back at last season’s enjoyable Derby della Capitale win over rivals Roma.
The 29-year-old Montenegrin full back proved his qualities to Maurizio Sarri last season, earning a starting spot after his tactical flexibility and intelligence impressed the coach. His contract was renewed until 2024 and he looks set to remain a regular feature in Rome.
Speaking to Lazio’s media outlets (via La Lazio Siamo Noi), Marusic first discussed how it feels to be in Auronzo di Cadore for the pre-season retreat.
Always nice to come here, we work hard. We have to continue like this. This period as always we work a lot, twice a day, we need it for the whole season.
It changes because there is the World Cup in November, there are so many games and we have to be ready.
He then touched on his changing role over the last few years.
These five years I have changed so much. Whether on the right or the left it doesn’t change so much, the coach chooses and I have to be ready.
The 29-year-old spoke about the change in formation from a 3-5-2 system to a 4-3-3.
At the beginning it was a bit difficult, in the first three months, having changed set-up. In the last six months we have improved so much, but we have to keep growing.
I try to give everything, then we will see the results. For me it is important to be at my best to play as much as possible.
With the new people in the department? I get along with them well, I think it’s more difficult for them. You need patience and time, then everything will be fine.

There are a lot of young guys and the new signings who are really strong. If I have to say one name I’d mention Luka Romero, I think he can play more than last year.
