Lotito Hits Back at Lazio Fans Over Low Season Ticket Numbers

Claudio Lotito was not impressed with the fans as the Lazio season ticket numbers paled in comparison to rivals Roma.

The Biancocelesti have sold around 8500 season tickets so far, a fairly low amount considering the Stadio Olimpico has a maximum capacity of around 72,000. It was widely reported yesterday that Roma had sold 36,000 season tickets in comparison, showing the difference in support between the two clubs.

As Lotito signed a number of autographs for the Lazio fans at the pre-season training camp in Auronzo di Cadore yesterday (via LazioNews24), he complained about the lack of purchased season tickets.

“When are you going to buy season tickets?,” He commented. The response was simply “are things changing?,” to which he replied “Yes, but only results count. We are still at 8500 season tickets against Roma’s 36,000.”

Lotito has never gotten on particularly well with the Lazio fans and the low number of season tickets is likely a result of this, as well as the often unconvincing work in the transfer market. Things have been positive this summer, however, and many are now hopeful that Maurizio Sarri can fight for a top four spot next season.
